Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Mr. Ball was part of a team of attorneys that served as national defense counsel in serious and high-profile investigations, claims, lawsuits, and crisis management situations pertaining to fraternal organizations throughout the United States. In that role, Mr. Ball investigated and litigated matters ranging from sexual assault to fraud and misrepresentation in California, Nevada, Colorado, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
Mr. Ball started his legal career at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where he was a Deputy District Attorney. While there, Mr. Ball successfully tried over 30 jury and court felony and misdemeanor trials to verdict. As a criminal prosecutor, Mr. Ball conducted hundreds of felony preliminary hearings and handled thousands of felony, misdemeanor and juvenile cases involving charges ranging from driving under the influence to murder.
Mr. Ball’s wide range of experience in both the private and public sectors, in both civil and criminal litigation, provides him with a unique background and perspective to his clients that are faced with litigation. While Mr. Ball prides himself on being able to successfully litigate a matter from inception through trial, he also takes great joy in working with his clients and opposing counsel to craft creative resolutions which reduce the stress and expense of protracted litigation.
Originally hailing from Idaho, Mr. Ball enjoys spending time in the outdoors, particularly camping, snow skiing, running, golf and spending time with his wife and four young children.

Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a men’s fraternal organization with respect to all claims in a wrongful death and Title IX lawsuit.
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of national men’s fraternal organization with respect to the issue of duty of care in a catastrophic personal injury lawsuit.
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a national men’s fraternal organization and its local undergraduate chapter with respect to the issue of duty of care in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Obtained dismissal on behalf of national men’s fraternal organization and various local undergraduate chapter representatives related to claims associated with breach of contract and misrepresentation.

Community Involvement
