Mr. Shunk heads Messner Reeves’ Labor & Employment Practice Group. He has spent over 25 years counseling and advocating on behalf of public and private employers in a wide range of employment-related matters. His focus is on helping organizations of all sizes protect their largest investment: their people.
Mr. Shunk has particularly deep experience in wage and hour compliance and litigation, including collective and class actions. He also routinely advises and represents clients on the full spectrum of labor and employment issues, including employment discrimination, employee discipline and termination, non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements, and reductions-in-force.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Shunk focuses on preventive practices, frequently partnering with employers to craft workplace policies, handbooks, and procedures to facilitate productive employee relations while reducing the frequency and severity of claims. His proactive approach minimizes risk by helping employers to stay compliant with employment laws and regulations.
Mr. Shunk has tried dozens of cases in his career, many to a jury, in both state and federal forums. In addition to his labor and employment law practice, he handles a wide array of civil and commercial litigation matters.
