Lars T. Knutson
Associate
Lars T. Knutson is an associate attorney in the Phoenix office of Messner Reeves, where his practice focuses on labor and employment issues, insurance defense, real estate, retail, restaurants, hospitality, and other litigation cases.
Lars brings extensive experience from small and mid-sized firms in insurance defense with a wide-ranging and demanding caseload throughout his career. His background includes managing every stage of litigation from pre-suit through post-trial motions.
He has strong familiarity with a range of complex statutory and multi-faceted torts actions including state and federal level employment discrimination cases, security contractor’s assumed liability for premises actions, and design-build construction cases with multiple separate theories of liability in contract and tort.
Previous accomplishments include successfully arguing a motion to dismiss with prejudice on a third-party design liability claim and obtaining voluntary dismissal of a plaintiff’s case alleging conversion of chattels claims in a declaration submitted one day before the close of discovery. In the latter, Lars drafted a motion to strike/sanctions motion moving for preclusion of the plaintiff’s efforts to amend answers to requests for admission, preclusion of the underlying declaration, and reopening of discovery to pursue previously privileged testimony.
He is a summa cum laude and Distinguished Military Graduate of California State University San Bernardino with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He received his J.D. from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He is currently licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois, and Arizona.
