Messner Reeves Partner Richard Reice Quoted in People Managing People Article

Messner Reeves New York Partner Richard Reice was recently quoted in the People Hiring People article “Comprehensive Guide to Hiring International Employees: What Decision-Makers Need to Know.” The article dives into the challenges and considerations for organizations looking overseas to hire new talent, from maintaining compliance to handling payroll and intellectual property and more.

In the article, Richard advises employers to pay very close attention to compliance:

“Compliance is the most important aspect of international hiring. There are two categories within this: hiring non-citizens living abroad and hiring US citizens living abroad. For example, if you’re an oil company and you hire American residents living in Norway to work in oil fields, you’ll have to comply with both US employment laws and local Norwegian laws. However, for the latter case, you’ll have to comply with the local and employment laws of the jurisdiction where the employee works.”

Richard’s extensive experience as a labor and employment lawyer encompasses many different roles, from private practice litigator to in-house counsel to employment law arbitrator and mediator. He also has a wealth of experience negotiating union labor agreements, litigating unfair labor charges, and grievance arbitrations.
