Alia S. Khoury
Associate
Alia S. Khoury is an associate attorney in the New York City office of Messner Reeves. Alia’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial clients in breach of contract matters as well as complex claims and lawsuits. Alia also devotes part of her practice to defending healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases.
Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Alia served as a prosecutor in the Special Victims Division of the District Attorney’s office. While there, she prosecuted cases in all stages of criminal litigation, from arraignment to trial. She regularly argued Crawford hearings, bail arguments, and other criminal hearings, as well as successfully negotiated plea bargains with criminal defense attorneys. After transitioning to civil litigation, Alia was an attorney with a law firm in upstate New York as a part of their litigation department. While there, she investigated claims against her clients, developed defense strategy, took and defended depositions, drafted pleadings, argued dispositive motions, and prepared for arbitration, mediation, and trial, successfully litigating cases to protect her client’s interests while minimizing their liability exposure.
Alia graduated with honors from Lehman College, majoring in English literature. She then attended New York Law School, where she was a Trustee Scholar, and graduated with not only her Juris Doctor degree, but an additional certificate in alternative dispute resolution, emphasizing her skills in arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. Alia is currently admitted to practice in New York state.
