Amelia F. Burroughs is a partner in the Silicon Valley office of Messner Reeves LLP. She represents employers, healthcare professionals, insurers, and businesses in complex litigation, with a practice focused on labor and employment, healthcare, insurance defense, medical malpractice, professional license defense, and commercial litigation.
Amelia is an accomplished trial attorney with extensive courtroom experience throughout Northern California. She has tried medical malpractice, elder abuse, dangerous road conditions, breach of contract, and stock fraud cases before juries, as well as cases in both state and federal courts. She has also represented clients in administrative hearings before California’s Office of Administrative Hearings and Berman hearings before the California Labor Commissioner. Her litigation experience includes trying a class action case through jury trial and subsequent appeals.
Her practice emphasizes medical malpractice defense, professional healthcare license defense, employment defense, trust litigation, personal injury, and complex litigation. Amelia regularly advises clients through every stage of litigation, combining extensive trial experience with practical, strategic counsel.
In addition to her litigation practice, Amelia regularly presents California-compliant Sexual Harassment Prevention Trainings for employers and organizations.
Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Amelia ran her own practice and also served as a partner and associate with other law firms. She is admitted to practice in California and before all federal courts in California.
Amelia earned her Juris Doctor, with Great Distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Sacramento.
