Benjamin D. Asser
Associate
Benjamin D. Asser is an associate with the Denver office of Messner Reeves where he is a member of the corporate practice group and assists with entity formation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate. Benjamin’s practice also focuses on retail, restaurants, and hospitality matters, regulatory compliance regarding cannabis, natural medicine, and liquor licensing, and entrepreneurial law.
Benjamin previously worked with Messner Reeves as a summer associate and law clerk. Before joining the Messner Reeves team, he had a career in corporate hospitality management, which now provides him with a unique perspective on the legal issues facing restaurants and hotels. Additionally, Benjamin has completed internships in entrepreneurial law and immigration law, where he developed his transactional drafting and legal research skills.
Benjamin earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. While there, he served as the Operations Editor for the Colorado Technology Law Journal. He was also a member of the Barrister’s Transactional Team, where he participated in the 2024 Tulane Pro Basketball Negotiation Competition in New Orleans. Additionally, Benjamin remains active in the CU Boulder startup community, after co-founding a company that was a finalist in the 2024 New Venture Challenge. Prior to law school, Benjamin received his B.A. in Business (Global Politics) from Arizona State University.
