Allison Dodd

Ms. Dodd is head of Messner Reeves’ Colorado Labor and Employment Group. As part of her labor and employment practice, Ms. Dodd provides strategic legal counsel to employers on a variety of workplace matters. This includes day-to-day guidance on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Ms. Dodd works closely with clients to develop and maintain compliant workplace policies and procedures, conduct internal audits and gap assessments, and respond and adapt proactively to regulatory developments. Ms. Dodd routinely advises employers on wage and hour matters, independent contractor relationships, various leave laws, harassment and discrimination prevention, and workplace accommodations.

Ms. Dodd also assists employers in conducting internal investigations, managing disciplinary actions and terminations, and navigating sensitive issues such as reductions in force or reorganizations with the goal of minimizing legal risk while maintaining efficient and constructive operations. Ms. Dodd also counsels her clients in crisis prevention and crisis management on a wide variety of matters ranging from wage and hour compliance to public relations. She takes a strategic approach to prevent, respond to and recover from unexpected events that negatively impact her clients.

Ms. Dodd also represents employers in administrative matters including external investigations and audits by regulatory bodies, as well as providing training for HR professionals, managers, and executives on key employment law topics. Whether advising a Fortune 500 company or a start-up, Ms. Dodd partners closely with clients to develop tailored, pragmatic solutions that mitigate legal risk while maintaining business objectives.

Ms. Dodd was selected as a Super Lawyer in 2026 and was a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2014 to 2025. She is licensed to practice law in Colorado and North Dakota.
