Hettie L. Haines

Hettie is an experienced Intellectual Property attorney in the Phoenix office, where her practice focuses on intellectual property (IP) litigation. With over a decade of experience, in both in-house and private practice roles, Hettie brings a wealth of knowledge in patent strategy, IP counseling, and enforcement. This dual experience has also equipped her with an understanding of IP law from both a strategic, business-focused viewpoint and a client-centered approach, making her well-positioned to navigate the complexities of IP disputes in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Hettie possesses extensive technical expertise in a variety of fields, particularly in semiconductor technology and manufacturing. With a background in Electrical Engineering, she has a deep understanding of complex technologies, including power electronics, battery management systems, imaging systems, and communication systems. Her technical knowledge allows her to effectively navigate the intricacies of patent law related to highly specialized industries, providing clear and actionable counsel for both patent prosecution and litigation.
Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Hettie served as Senior IP Manager at ASM, where she led patent strategy, conducted in-depth analysis of IP risks, and was responsible for invention harvesting and patent generation. Prior to that, Hettie worked as a Patent Attorney at a boutique IP firm, where she handled various aspects of IP law with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution.
Outside of work, Hettie enjoys traveling, yoga, and volunteering at Horses Help, an equine-assisted therapy organization.
