Associate
Hettie Haines bases her litigation and intellectual property practice from the firm’s Phoenix Office. With over a decade of experience in both in-house and private practice roles, Hettie brings a wealth of knowledge to her client engagements. This dual experience has also equipped her with an understanding of law from both a strategic, business-focused perspective and a client-centered approach, making her well-positioned to navigate the complexities of commercial disputes in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Hettie possesses extensive technical expertise across a range of fields, particularly semiconductor technology and manufacturing. With a background in Electrical Engineering, she has a deep understanding of complex technologies, including power electronics, battery management systems, imaging systems, and communication systems. Her technical knowledge enables her to navigate the intricacies of business disputes and litigation, including those involving patent law in highly specialized industries, providing clear, actionable counsel for both patent prosecution and litigation.
Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Hettie served as Senior IP Manager at ASM, where she led patent strategy, conducted in-depth analysis of IP risks, and was responsible for invention harvesting and patent generation. Prior to that, Hettie worked as a Patent Attorney at a boutique IP firm, where she handled various aspects of IP law with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution.
Outside of work, Hettie enjoys traveling, yoga, and volunteering at Horses Help, an equine-assisted therapy organization.
