Katherine L. Turpen

Katherine Turpen has been defending physicians and healthcare professionals against claims of Medical Malpractice and Professional Negligence for over twenty years. A dedicated trial lawyer, she possesses a deep knowledge of what it takes to work up a malpractice case with the best defense for her client in mind.

Katherine’s practice is concentrated in the areas of Professional Liability defense, including Medical Malpractice defense, Legal Malpractice defense and Nursing Home Litigation. Her Medical Malpractice defense work includes representation of individual healthcare providers, their professional corporations, practice groups and clinics, as well as sub-acute and acute care facilities.

Katherine regularly represents Nevada Healthcare Providers in administrative matters before their professional licensing boards. She has successfully assisted and defended Nevada providers before the Board of Medical Examiners, the Board of Osteopathic Medicine, the Board of Nursing, the Physical Therapy Board, the Board of Social Work, the Pharmacy Board and the Board of Psychological Examiners.

In addition to her litigation and administrative licensing practice, Katherine is experienced credentialing counsel. She advises clients, both Credentialing Committees and individual practitioners, regarding their credentialing and privileging activities. She has also worked as a neutral Hearing Officer, presiding over various manners of healthcare credentialing disputes and fair hearing proceedings.

Outside the Court room, Katherine advocated on behalf of doctors and other healthcare providers before the Nevada Committee on Judiciary in 2023. She spoke in support of preserving the statutory protections afforded Nevada’s providers by NRS Chapter 41A, which serve to cap damages and limit personal exposure to individual providers.

Katherine graduated from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa in 2003. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada that same year, making it home.
