Megan M. Ortiz
Associate
Megan is a passionate litigator and appellate writer whose practice focuses primarily on insurance defense, personal injury, and a variety of other matters in litigation. She joined Messner Reeves from an AmLaw 100 firm where she gained a breadth of experience in defense cases involving car accidents, slip and falls, catastrophic injuries, and products liability. Previously, Megan was a public defender, affording her a depth of litigation and motion practice that makes her a formidable and tenacious advocate for any client.
Megan gained her JD from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her BA in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno. In law school, she served as the President of the Public Interest Law Association, lobbied for the ACLU of Nevada during the 2019 Nevada legislative session, and eventually graduated with the Dean’s Award. Prior to law school, Megan was a journalist and professional editor who worked for a number of newspapers, publications, and public relations companies over the course of her career. She is an experienced communicator in all aspects, as well as public speaker, and wields innovative arguments in the court room.
Megan is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, reading, traveling with her partner and spending time with her two dogs.
