Mikhail A. Shah is the Managing Partner of the New York Office, and Head of the New York Office Litigation Practice Group. He is an accomplished trial lawyer with experience in jury trials before both state and federal courts. Mikhail specializes in defense litigation, where he focuses on the defense of corporate and commercial clients in complex claims and lawsuits. He also devotes a significant part of his practice to insurance defense litigation, and counsels clients across various practice areas, including general liability, legal and medical malpractice, corporate, commercial, healthcare, labor and employment, and construction litigation.
As Managing Partner of the New York Office, Mikhail leads a team of experienced litigators in the defense of cases venued in both New York and New Jersey state and federal courts, as well as federal courts across the country. Prior to joining Messner Reeves, LLP, he was an attorney with a law firm in upstate New York as part of their state and federal court litigation department. While there, he concentrated his practice in the prosecution and defense of general liability, malpractice, and corporate matters, as well as the representation of clients in commercial and construction defect matters.
Mikhail earned his Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School, where he served as the President and Director of the Albany Law School Pro Bono Society. During law school, he also clerked at two large international law firms, competed in the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials Competition, and served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Judge Mae A. D’Agostino at the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. Prior to attending law school, Mikhail was pre-med and received his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from George Mason University.
