Rachel Heumann
Associate
Rachel M. Heumann is an associate in the Denver office of Messner Reeves LLP, where her practice focuses on litigation, healthcare, insurance defense, and board work involving claims filed against professionals. She defends individuals and corporations in personal injury and medical malpractice cases and drafts responses for healthcare providers facing licensing and disciplinary complaints.
Before joining the firm as an associate, Rachel completed a year-long clerkship with the Honorable Christopher Zenisek in the First Judicial District Court in Golden, Colorado, where she worked on a mixed docket of civil, criminal, and domestic matters. Her prior experience includes workers’ compensation defense at Ritsema Law and a legal externship with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office under the Student Practice Act.
While at the University of Colorado Law School, Rachel was a member of the Colorado Law Review, competed in multiple mock trial competitions, and practiced in the Legal Aid Civil Practice Clinic representing low-income employees. She earned B.A. degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, with a minor in Biology, from Indiana University. She is a member of the American Health Law Association.
Outside of practice, Rachel enjoys playing acoustic guitar, alpine skiing, tennis, pickleball, and reading memoirs of recovery and resilience.
