Samuel O. Follis
Partner
Samuel O. Follis is a partner with the Orange County office of Messner Reeves, where his practice focuses on civil litigation and product liability claims.
His experience includes a range of complex litigation with large numbers of defendants and plaintiffs, including a water contamination case with hundreds of plaintiffs, mass highway pileup accident claims with multiple lawsuits and parties, and asbestos floor tile exposure lawsuits with hundreds of schools against five manufacturers.
He brings extensive experience in product liability defense, premises liability defense, and toxic tort case management to the Messner Reeves team. He previously served as in-house counsel managing risk assessment and claims management, work product contract review, and lawsuit liability assessment. While serving as a senior associate, he was the head of the asbestos department, handling 20-30 active cases each year.
Before entering the legal profession, Sam had an active career as a builder and designer and also worked in the aircraft industry.
Sam earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Los Angeles and his J.D. from the Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
Sam is licensed to practice by the California State Bar and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Outside of his legal work, he’s active in the community as a coach and referee for the American Youth Soccer Association and a member of the Palos Verdes Homeowners Association. He’s also active in the Loyola Alumni Association, the UCLA Alumni Association “Life Member”, and is a Wooden Fund Member.
