Messner Reeves Sponsors the 2023 Colorado Ag Water Summit

Colorado’s agriculture, water, and natural resources interests are of vital importance to Messner Reeves LLP, and we are proud to be a supporting sponsor of the 2023 Colorado Ag Water Summit held by the Colorado Ag Water Alliance. This year’s summit was attended by Partner Laura Chartrand, whose practice focuses on Natural Resources & Environmental Law.

Held in Loveland, CO, the summit brought farmers, ranchers, and water managers from across the state together to discuss water issues impacting the agricultural community. Over two days, the summit covered a range of water and agricultural topics from drought resilience to federal support of future irrigation infrastructure to understanding future challenges, and a variety of other topics surrounding Colorado water and agricultural resources.

The Colorado Ag Water Alliance is a cohort of agricultural leaders from throughout the state who are deeply committed to preserving agriculture through strategic management of Colorado water resources. Member organizations include the Colorado Water Institute, Colorado State University, Colorado Department of Agriculture and the Colorado Water Conservation Board, among other entities closely tied to agriculture, water and other natural resources.

Colorado’s natural resources are an important component of Partner Laura Chartrand’s practice, as she has nearly two decades of experience and a deep understanding of state and federal complexities surrounding land, water, energy development and endangered species. As a former Regional Solicitor of the Rocky Mountain Region with the U.S. Department of Interior, and service as a Deputy Attorney General for the Natural Resources and Environment Section with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, Laura draws upon a wealth of experience representing a wide range of agriculture, privately held companies, ranches, farms, and oil and gas clients.

Laura’s expertise, combined with the collective firmwide experience, makes her uniquely qualified to counsel clients in all legal, regulatory, and legislative natural resources matters. Learn more about our Natural Resources Law & Environmental Law practice area.
