During her time at law school, Gonzalez served as an Associate Editor on Law Review, a Senior Editor of the International Law Journal and as the Vice President of Diversity and President of the American Constitution Society. Gonzalez also served as a teaching fellow for Civil Procedure and worked as a Clinical Extern for the California Innocence Project.
