Brent Wadman, a partner out of our Denver office, led a joint strategic discussion with Courtney Seely, vice president of Legal Operations for Molson Coors the importance of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I).
The presentation was part of an ongoing engagement series offered by the Association of Corporate Counsel Colorado (ACC) and offered a new perspective on a topic many have seen a rise in significance over the last 18 months. Brent reviewed the fundamentals of ESG and D&I and examined the topics in a practical sense with business case studies. He identified the key factors considered from an investor’s point of view, as well as the options available to help position companies in allowing them to address stakeholder expectations. The session ended with an in-depth look at the current regulatory considerations including insight on some of the most recent developments
Brent’s refreshing look at this topic emphasized the benefits of a robust plan that addresses ESG and D&I from a workplace standpoint, as something that inspires employees and makes a connection with the consumer.
“Recognizing that a diverse workplace creates a better decision-making platform for a company is key, and this dynamic range of abilities is now seen to be the foundation of what makes a business more valuable,” said Wadman. “Not to mention, at the end of the day, it’s the right thing to do.”
