Messner Reeves Expands Its Colorado Springs Practice

COLORADO SPRINGS — Messner Reeves LLP, a full-service business and litigation law firm with offices across the nation, has expanded its Colorado Springs presence with a fresh office space and two new established local attorneys. Brenda L. Bartels and Amber Blasingame, from the well-known and now closed Hanes & Bartels firm, will help lead and grow the team along with the services provided by the office.

Having close ties to the Colorado Springs community, the new office will be housed in the historic Boys & Girls Club of the Pikes Peak region. Originally named the Colorado Springs Boys Club, the Club was founded in 1888 to provide a safe place to inspire education and promote activities to the local boys in the area.

The expansion also includes the addition of four paralegals, one billing specialist and a receptionist. Along with this new team, this growth continues to propel the law firm’s reach and breadth of practice by now offering immigration law to its already robust array of services.

“As we continue our focus on strategic growth, it made perfect sense to further develop and define our existing Colorado Springs presence in such a historical space with such a rich community background,” said CEO and Managing Partner Caleb Meyer of Messner Reeves. “Now, having this incredible team together, we feel even more connected to Colorado Springs and understand that having a national law firm locally will allow us to provide a high-quality level of service and legal support to the surrounding community.”

The new partners will join Intellectual Property (IP) Partner, Scott Hawranek, while continuing to serve their existing clients. Bartels and Blasingame will be tasked with growing the firm’s practice areas in real estate, construction and immigration law, among others.

After moving from her home state of Nebraska, Bartels quickly made a name for herself in Colorado Springs working on prominent cases impacting the local community. Since then, Bartels has been widely recognized for work in litigation, real estate and construction law, bringing over 35 years of legal experience to Messner Reeves.

Along with Bartels, Blasingame also joins the firm injecting her knowledge into the immigration space. Having worked in immigration law since 1995, Blasingame started her career off as a paralegal working mainly in the field of business immigration law. She started practicing as an attorney in 2011 with a continued focus in this practice area and later expanded her expertise to include family and humanitarian matters as well.

A fixture since the original Colorado Spring’s inception, Hawranek will continue to lead the firm’s IP practice. Well known in his field, Hawranek has a renowned track record of winning patent, trademark, copyright, licensing and trade misappropriation disputes.

This team along with their range of expertise and collaborative approach, will not only continue to grow the firm but will fuel its entrepreneurial spirit while providing an elevated range of services in and outside of Colorado Springs.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do,” said Meyer. “The enhancement of our Colorado Springs office will undoubtedly tie us closer to the incredible people that live there and allow us the ability to provide them with the legal counsel and strategy they deserve.”

Messner Reeves has offices in Orange County, Silicon Valley, Las Vegas, Reno, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Cheyenne and New York City, in addition to their three Colorado locations: Denver, Greenwood Village, and Colorado Springs.
