Messner Reeves Welcomes New Attorneys to The Team

Joseph Carucci – Associate, Orange County

As an associate in the firm’s real estate group, Joey’s concentration lies in real estate development and commercial leasing. Apart from his transactional experience, Joey has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of civil litigation, including law and motion, discovery and court appearances.

Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Joey represented homeowners in disputes with neighbors and Homeowners Associations involving claims for violations of the Davis-Stirling Act, breach of CC&Rs, breach of fiduciary duty and nuisance. During his time in law school, Joey served as an articles editor on the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly.

Debbie Enck – Associate, Denver

Debbie Enck is a civil litigator with broad experience handling healthcare, privacy, employment, governmental regulation and public policy issues along with having extensive experience in all stages of the litigation process, from pretrial investigation through trial and appeal. As a former assistant attorney general, Debbie provides a seasoned perspective that allows her to evaluate issues from multiple viewpoints.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Enck worked in a community mental health facility making her especially empathetic to the mental and emotional stress that can come from involvement in legal proceedings.

Sejal Patel – Associate, Las Vegas

Sejal Patel is an experienced litigator with a focus on healthcare, litigation and insurance defense. Sejal is admitted to practice in all California State Courts as well as the Central District of California. Currently, she is a member of the American Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association and Young Lawyers Division, specifically as the healthcare law section liaison. She was on the board of the South Asian Bar Association’s Southern California branch as a community engagement director, specifically judicial outreach in 2019.

She graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2015, with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Bachelor of Arts in public health policy. In 2018, she graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law.

Prior to joining Messner Reeves, Sejal’s practice focused primarily on defense medical malpractice cases in the Southern California area.

Jean Peterson – Associate, Denver

Jean Peterson is an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice group where she mainly focuses on general civil litigation. During her time at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, Jean clerked in the Second Judicial District for Hon. Judge Robert L. McGahey, Jr. (Ret.) in the civil division and then for Hon. Christine C. Antoun in the domestic division.

Prior to, and during, Jean’s time in law school she worked as a paralegal and legal extern for the Colorado disability rights organization, Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center. Before moving to Colorado, Ms. Peterson worked for the federal government in complex financial fraud investigations and assisted with international extradition investigations in Washington, D.C.

Jim Randall – Partner, Orange County

Located in our Orange County office, Jim Randall brings with him over 20 years of experience in the legal field and his practice area currently focuses on litigation. 

After graduating from State University of New York, he was accepted to Western State College of Law where he worked during the day and went to law school at night.  He worked a few years as a Plaintiff attorney before joining Farmers as a Senior Trial Attorney and Specialty Trial Attorney, where he litigated cases for several years and then formed the Law and Motion Department.

Jim lectures frequently, provides MCLE classes and publishes numerous articles on the law as well as the 2-volume publications, “California Personal Injury Forms” [Cross Publishing & Bancroft/Whitney] and his own series of publications entitled, “Thumbprint Guides”, under LAWATYOURFINGERTIPS Inc. focusing on different aspects of California Personal Injury Law.

Ellen Stoebling – Associate, Las Vegas

With over 34 years of experience, Ellen Stoebling brings an impressive array of knowledge to the firm.  In our Las Vegas office, her current practice areas are focused on insurance defense and has handled numerous arbitrations and trials to verdict over this period of time. Ellen has previously handled plaintiff’s personal injury, debtor bankruptcy and workers’ compensation claims.

Originally from Staten Island, New York Ellen attended Siena College, in Loudonville, New York and then made the move west for Law School graduating from Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles, CA.
